Celebrating 40 Years of Barn Owl Conservation

In 2025, the Barn Owl Trust will mark 40 years since our very first Barn Owl release — four decades of rescuing, protecting and conserving Barn Owls. To celebrate, we’ve joined forces with Ashburton artist Glen Middleham, co-founder of Jam Contemporary Art, to create something truly special.

Glen has created a striking Barn Owl collage, available as a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle, a limited-edition fine art print, and an A3 open edition print. At first glance, you see a Barn Owl poised to hunt at dusk. Look closer, and you’ll discover the image is made entirely from fragments of Barn Owl Trust history, including handwritten field notes, old logos, posters, leaflets, slogans, facts and photographs, each one is a piece of the story.

This project is especially close to Glen’s heart. Almost 35 years ago, we visited his primary school with a tame Barn Owl. That moment sparked his lifelong love of birds and the natural world, a passion that has shaped his art ever since. Now, his work brings that journey full circle, celebrating the very charity that inspired him as a child.

Every puzzle and print sold will aid in the conservation of wild Barn Owls and their environment. You can order your puzzle or print online, or see the artwork in person at The Jam Gallery in Ashburton, Devon. However you choose to take part, you’ll be helping to protect Barn Owls and their homes for generations to come.
