BOESS Add-on Practical Course
Successful completion of the online BOESS course qualifies you to attend one of these practical training sessions in Devon on minimising disturbance, search procedure, and interpreting signs of occupation. Please be aware that you can only book onto this practical course within 12 months of completing your online BOESS course.

Course schedule
11:00 – 11:15
Arrival and registration
11:15 – 12:00
Survey techniques and identifying signs of occupation presentation. Site visit briefing and survey planning session.
12:00 – 12:30
Lunch
12:30 – 15:30
Visit to a local Barn Owl site where you will conduct a survey under the observation and supervision of the Barn Owl Trust’s Schedule 1 Licence/Ringing Permit holder and a Conservation Officer.
15:30 – 15:45
Debrief and course assessment
Further information
Two weeks prior to attendance, you will be emailed a questionnaire on minimising disturbance to help refresh your memory. This will need to be completed and returned to us one week before attendance.
Upon successful completion of this course, you will be emailed a certificate.

CL29 licence
In combination with the BOESS online course certificate, the certificate from this training course can be accepted in lieu of one of the two required references for the CL29 licence application to Natural England.
